My type cover does not work and I left my surface aside the battery drained. I put it in the socket and the type cover worked. What will it be?

Thanks. This is a great option. UEFI makes sense for all the issues I've seen. Wish they would have done something about this problem

Reports of SP3 typecovers not working began in August 2017. There is a long

    thread at

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/surfpro3-surfperf/type-cover-not-working-but/059251f4-03f9-4070-8154-a8b8c9819c5f

    • typically, even a wipe and reset won't fix these. Something seems to happen

during the upgrade process (for any random update) that causes this condition.

    Sorry..

have a model that they state would work that is Bluetooth based.

I tried a complete wipe & reset using a clean image downloaded from MS website.

I can't get the battery drain to work. I have no driver that I can find to delete.

    Nothing has worked for me.

I'm now using a BT keyboard, but it's not at all ideal really.

Has there been any publication of the issue in main stream media that you know of? It would be interesting to read any response from Microsoft any insinuation that the problem only starts a few months out of warranty...!

Keep up the good work Barb.

    Kind regards

    Graham

There are probably many users with the problem and it started soon after their warranty ran out, but that has nothing to do with it. Other users, such as Pro3 owners, were well out of warranty when theirs failed, and others were still in warranty.

While the cynical view might say that MS somehow causes the failure after warranty to force people to buy another machine, that can't be the reality.

It is very clear that the problems are related to certain firmware updates - and that they don't impact everyone's computers equally. The best way to find out what has been reported in computer publications is to ask them directly.
