My type cover does not work and I left my surface aside the battery drained. I put it in the socket and the type cover worked. What will it be?

    Barb,

I would be happy to turn in my device for Microsoft to test and reproduce this issue. A device with this issue should be an opportunity to get their hands on.

If shipment is paid for and I get a replacement device in the end, I'll be happy to assist in sending my device.

    1. I don't know of any way to disconnect the battery or successfully revert the

    firmware to fix this.

    1. I have not found anyone IN the US with this issue.
    2. Can you provide a link to the forum in Japan that I can forward along to

    internal contacts?

    1. Microsoft Surface Engineering needs to get one of these devices that is

"broken" to even begin to see the problem, but I suspect that because so far,

there is no one in "an officially supported country" that has come forward with

this issue that they are "following the support rules". I've actually asked them

to make an exception to see if they will work with YOU. But to be honest, I

    don't expect a reply.

    Congratulations Berb!

Right now I'm typing on my Type Cover keyboard, but I let the whole battery drain yesterday and this morning turn on!

Is it possible to disconnect the battery from Surface Pro 3 for Software?

My battery has only 250 cycles.

Is there a possibility to revert firmware drivers? I've tried to downgrade, but a yellow icon appears.

As you said, many people outside of the United States have the same problem, I am participating in a forum in Japan with the same problem.

    Barb,

Thank you for this summary, this is indeed what it all comes down to.

The only thing I'm not completely sure off is if it happened after a Microsoft update.

I did not check my installed updates and can't remember the exact date the problem first manifested.

The most important thing is that the cover works after a drain, untill restart or closing the cover.

@Ruz: Like I already said, I tried soft resets and hard resets. I installed the newest firmware, I installed both the Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 image from the Microsoft Surface site (which also includes all drivers).

It is not a software issue, I tried all your suggestions already.

    Hi,

Like what you have inferred after using your Type Cover with another Surface, the problem could be arising because of the hardware. However, we'd like to know if you've compared the driver versions of the Type Cover on your own Surface and on your friend's. It's possible that the driver you have on your own Surface is causing this. We recommend you check the driver version and see whether it is the same as the version your friend has.

You can also get the latest firmware and drivers for your Surface Pro 3 by going to this link. It helps if you perform a two-button reset after installing the new updates on your device. This way, the Surface will restart with the new updates in full operation. Here's how the suggestion is done:

    1. Turn off your Surface Pro 3.
    2. Press and hold the volume-up button and the power button simultaneously for at least 15 seconds.
    3. Release both buttons and wait for about 10 seconds.
    4. Switch on your Surface Pro 3 normally.

Let us know if you need more help.
