Surface Pro 3 High CPU load when idle, high system cpu load

Has anyone else noticed that coming out of sleep or herniate results in unwarranted high cpu load from system interrupts?

I have all the latest firmware and updates loaded. But using sleep even sometimes a cold boot I get this issue.

How can I fix this please. Its killing my battery life.

Oh!! I just checked it again as I wanted to make a screenshot and now it's working! I don't know what changed. The only thing I did was that I originally enabled Hyper-V but when it started interfering with my WiFi connectivity I disabled it again, so maybe that's what was necessary.. I used to have constant high "System Interrupts" process running, but disabling one by one I found out that an Adobe startup process was causing it, so I disabled it and it seems to have fixed the issue. Either way, thanks for your responses!

Dear Clare,

No, this is not what I was asking. Please refer to the original question.

Perhaps you may have something running in the background.

    Hi Chris,

Thank you for your response and answers to my questions. So the issue appears after the device wakes up from sleep and a complete shut down.

    • I see that you have the Type Cover and a microSD card. Have you tried turning the device on (from a cold boot, a restart, or sleep) to see if it makes any difference?
    • That's interesting how you found that the sound might have something to do with the CPU load. Was the sound turned off when you found out about this problem? What happens if you turn the volume on/up, let the device to sleep/shut down, then turn it back on? Even if the sound was off, after waking the device and turn the sound on, does the problem disappear?

    Let me know!

    Hi,

I have found that without the SD attached I have less chance of this happening. Cold boots it can still do this as I shutdown and then booted from a cold start and struck the issue.

I found that when I watched the CPU use % in task manager when playing Audio the system and system interrupts would stop hogging the CPU and things would return to normal. Once I stopped playing the MP3. It would return.

Volume up and down. Mute make no difference.

Again it seems to be connected to the Realtek audio driver or MircoSD card slot?
