Surface Book 3 - external keyboard and mouse

I have a SB3 connected to a Surface Dock which has FullHD touch monitor, USB keyboard and mouse connected to it.  I have used this setup without any issues for over 2 years with Surface Laptop 1.

With the SB3 the keyboard and mouse 'stutter' meaning characters are lost or autorepeat due to missing down or up codes.  Mouse motion ceases then resumes.

I have a video of the mouse re I continuously move the mouse in a circle

I have tried plugging the mouse into one of the SB3 USB ports and get the same result.

I know others have seen this problem.  It should be easy to reproduce.  Can someone from Microsoft try this please.

This looks to be a level USB message handling problem. Note that the USB is not unloading.

A fix for this issue is now available through Windows Update. Please review the Surface Book 3 Update History page.

I haven't tried it without the screen, that is the whole point of the dock for me, to get the larger real-estate.

My guess it is video related issue. Just wish MS would step up. As I said before my non MS dock at home is fine.

I know it means losing a screen but what happens if you disconnect just the external screen from the Dock2 leaving everything else connected?

Tried running with just the monitor off the Surface dock 2 and mouse connected via the laptop Bluetooth.

It still locks up, probably just as much. Will try tomorrow with a wired mouse.

Thank you for providing the solution that finally helped me through this multi-year and multi keyboard/mouse combo saga.

I was having issues with my favorite Logitech keyboard and mouse combo.  I finally broke down and got the Microsoft keyboard and mouse for my office.  Now working remotely at home I have been using my Logitech combo with good results.  A week ago I started getting repeating letters and a very delayed response from the keyboard and over the past few days the mouse stopped working all together.  I replaced batteries and utlimately bought another set.

The new set worked great .... for the first 45 seconds and then the same issues started occuring.  At that point I threw up my arms in frustration and was ready to quit my job and become a florist or cat breeder.  Good news was I found this thread and after installing a 6" usb extension cable with my USB unifying adapter it has worked perfectly!

You can get a short USB extension cable from Amazon for under $10 and will be happy again and not have to give up your office career like I almost did.
