I am using:

Device name *******

Processor Microsoft SQ1 @ 3.0 GHz 3.00 GHz

Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.54 GB usable)

System type 64-bit operating system, ARM-based processor

Pen and touch Pen and touch support with 10 touch points

Recently, after an update, when using Google maps, the names of the locations disappear.

Initially the maps shows all the detail

But few seconds later when everything is loaded, the town names disappear:

I thought this was a Chrome issue, thus cleared the cache etc. but this not fixed the issue.

I then tried different browsers MS Edge and Firefox. They all have the same issue.

I contacted Google and provided the above info, but they believe this is o/s issue and suggested I contact MS.

Is anyone able suggest how I can fixed this problem?

As stated by another user, the most recent Surface update has not resolved this problem. The place names disappear when the GPS coordinates are appended to the URL with "entry=ttu". This problem occurs on any browser and only on MS Surface.

There was a MS Surface update KB5029263 yesterday, but no change i.e. fault still exists. I don't know if MS is investigating the problem.

I was so happy yesterday because maps was working fine the whole day (on Edge). Thought the issue was finally resolved. Today, not working again.

With me when I move the mouse around the screen, in some locations the writing comes back for a split second. If I can stop the cursor at that location then all the labels stay visible.

Same problem here. If I turn on the terrain layer, in satellite view, place names come back (but not street names).

As per Google's advice, if you turn off hardware acceleration in Chrome, the detail comes back, but the browser performance is unusable.

FWIW, this afternoon, it was working fine on Edge. I left all tabs open, went out to dinner, came back a few hours later, and same maps tab now not working. So this issue seems totally random.
