Surface Pro X, Issues with Google Maps

I am using:

Device name *******

Processor Microsoft SQ1 @ 3.0 GHz 3.00 GHz

Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.54 GB usable)

System type 64-bit operating system, ARM-based processor

Pen and touch Pen and touch support with 10 touch points

Recently, after an update, when using Google maps, the names of the locations disappear.

Initially the maps shows all the detail

But few seconds later when everything is loaded, the town names disappear:

I thought this was a Chrome issue, thus cleared the cache etc. but this not fixed the issue.

I then tried different browsers MS Edge and Firefox. They all have the same issue.

I contacted Google and provided the above info, but they believe this is o/s issue and suggested I contact MS.

Is anyone able suggest how I can fixed this problem?

    I informed Microsoft Devices (Surface Pro Support) and they recorded the anomaly on my Surface Pro. They haven't given me a "Case Number" yet. You are correct in that the issue seems to be centered around Microsoft Surface Pro w/ Windows 11 and Google Maps. My two Surface Pros have the same anomaly and I did a factory reset on one and there was no change. My Lenovo Lap Top w/ Win 11 works w/ G. Maps okay. Bing maps works okay which is an amazing coincidence. Other than this issue, I think the Surface Pro is a fantastic product nevertheless.

    Has anyone got this issue resolved?

    I got another update today, 2023-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for arm64-based Systems (KB5030219), and the issues still exists on all browsers, MS Edge, Chrome and Firefox.

    I'm not entirely convinced that the google map issue could be from an ARM64 based system. I think it's an inherent conflict with the software updates. Sometime around March 2023 a MS Update disabled my Surface Pro camera. When complaints came pouring in, MS fixed it almost immediately (i.e., at least one week in a "Microsoft Minute".)

    There may be some skullduggery involved by the "knomes of Microsoft HQ" in this issue since MS Bing Maps works fine. In fact, MS Bing Maps works in Edge, Chrome and Firefox. If it were an ARM64 processor issue then I think it would affect Bing Maps and other Mapping software as well. As mentioned previously, our Lenovo Laptop w/ Windows 11 works very well.

    I would like to remind the MS community that about 35 years ago (1988) MS came out with "Streets and Trips" that had a complete GPS active mapping program. Now google has become a verb in the English language so just "Google it". One can only imagine the enormous amount of money involved in the current wave of mapping software. Could there be legal and commerical forces at work with this issue? Is this issue by design or by accident, that is the question.

    I have a Service Request with MS currently and they have promised to make it their top priority since the complaints are now coming in from Surface Pro users around the world.

    Turning hardware acceleration off on chrome resolves the problem with google maps. However, that will cause other issues. If you use backgrounds on conference calls, they won't work without hardware acceleration turned on. So, you need to do without, or switch the setting back and forth.

    Yes, the ARM based OS is a poor cousin compared to Intel based full OS. Lot's of problems, with poor support.

    Issue is the same for me, surface pro x running chrome.

    Up to date software installed and still having the exact same issue

    Very much regret this purchase
