Surface Pro X, Issues with Google Maps

I am using:

Device name *******

Processor Microsoft SQ1 @ 3.0 GHz 3.00 GHz

Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.54 GB usable)

System type 64-bit operating system, ARM-based processor

Pen and touch Pen and touch support with 10 touch points

Recently, after an update, when using Google maps, the names of the locations disappear.

Initially the maps shows all the detail

But few seconds later when everything is loaded, the town names disappear:

I thought this was a Chrome issue, thus cleared the cache etc. but this not fixed the issue.

I then tried different browsers MS Edge and Firefox. They all have the same issue.

I contacted Google and provided the above info, but they believe this is o/s issue and suggested I contact MS.

Is anyone able suggest how I can fixed this problem?

Alas, did all that and no change.

    Thanks for the help though.

I see reading the entire thread this happened back in July, which fits in with my timeline. It was working fine before then. Is Microsoft looking in to this I wonder?

Try to uninstall Google maps, and / or Chrome. Then make sure Hardware Accelleration is turned back ON. Reinstall Chrome w/ Google Maps. Make sure you have the latest MS Windows updates. Then you should be good to go.

I just got MS update KB5031323, KB5031354, KB5030219 and KB5031217, with no change, i.e. if I turn on H/W acceleration the names disappear.

    So you are lucky.

Unfortunately rest of us need to wait.

Thanks - tried this. No change. When I open Google maps the names etc are initially there for like 2 seconds and then they disappear in front of my eyes. Is any boffin from Microsoft looking at this thread?

It never happened before - just started in the last 6 months or so. It's really annoying as Google Maps is now all but useless.

Afraid not in my case. I applied updates today and am up to date. Seeing your post, I turned hardware acceleration back on and relaunched chrome. Immediate google maps defect with placenames. Turned hardware acceleration back off, relaunched chrome, google maps works.

My Surface still has the issue as well.

I also now have an issue with google maps locating where I am. When I click on your location it takes me to the last location I looked at or saved. If I use MS Maps it takes me to my location!!!!!

This looks like MS and Google don't want to play ball.
