DO you have the Update Build Number?
Surface Pro 4 Jul 2017 Update - Type Cover not working
I updated the latest update Jul 2017 and it bricks my type cover completely. Tried everthing, from reset, volume + and power, everthing including cleaning etc.
I just do not understand. When I did Apr 2017 update, it also half bricked it, but at least using volume+ and power helps, but now totally unusable.
If anyone come across, this, please help.

2019-04-10T20:20:07+00:00 My Surface just did a very long update, shut down and restart sequence...
I wondered would this be the one to solve the problem.
It did! Type cover is now working again.
However, I'm not holding my breath, and my handy bluetooth logitech keyboard is to hand.
But thought I'd report this, and see if others have had the same surprise.

2019-02-20T03:35:09+00:00 Thanks for the reply! I have cleaned and reconnected many times with no success. I am in a very isolated area of the Philippines. I will try to find another type cover on 2/22/19. Will reply again!

It was a type cover pro 3.

2019-02-11T05:12:09+00:00 Hi after a recent surface pro 4 firmware update, my 'surface type cover filter device' driver disappeared, and my type cover no longer works. I suspect this is due to some issue with a corsair keyboard driver i installed recently.
I have tried doing a restart, hard restart, uninstalling the existing keyboard drivers and clicking on scan for hardware changes, but the surface type cover filter device doesn't come back. My type cover was attached throughout this process.
I speculate that some part of the 3rd party driver blocks the installation of the type cover filter, overwrites it, or just hides it. To begin with i don't know how this can be allowed by MSFT but I have since uninstalled the corsair software, but am still unable to reinstall the type cover driver either manually or through windows update.
I do not wish to refresh windows as i don't want to have to reinstall everything, and i can't roll back the surface firmware updates.
I hope the good folks at MSFT can do something about the surface drivers not installing properly.
Help!!!
I just updated Windows 10 with same results. Surface Type Cover Filter Device just disappeared. Tried to fix with surface diagnostic tool. It does not check for missing drivers. I can not find a source to obtain this driver. Can ANYONE help Please!
