Surface Pro 4 Jul 2017 Update - Type Cover not working

I updated the latest update Jul 2017 and it bricks my type cover completely. Tried everthing, from reset, volume + and power, everthing including cleaning etc.

I just do not understand. When I did Apr 2017 update, it also half bricked it, but at least using volume+ and power helps, but now totally unusable.

If anyone come across, this, please help.

I have spoken to the Office of Fair Trading in Australia. I would suggest, if you're in Australia and suffering with this Type Cover issue, to do the same.

After a disappointing trip to Microsoft Store, and also tried online troubleshooting with a remote Microsoft technician. After a week they told me they have tried all solutions and none of them works. They suggested me to pay money for a replacement. Yes, Surface 6 is out and they ask me to pay money to replace a Surface 4. I remember the Microsoft Store representative also told me so and the price for replacement is something like $400 or $500? Seems like Microsoft does not have internet access to eBay and they believe their customers don't have either.

I guarantee this is the last Surface product I bought. I will persuade all my friends and relatives to not buy any Surface or even Microsoft product.

Hi all !

I tried the battery-drain method with success !

Explanations : I disconnected the type cover from the SF4 and let the battery drained (I helped it with a game…). Then when battery was 4% the SF4 shutdowed itself.

I let it all the night unplugged from AC and from type cover.

Then on the morning, I plugged the cover then the AC then I turned on the SF4... Tandan !! Cover is back !

But…. short-lived joy !

In the afternoon, I let the SF4 with the type cover closed unplugged from AC. After few hours, I open my tablet and the issue with the type cover is back again ! :(

I retried the battery-drained methoad with success again but the issue is not resolve ! So yes it's possible to get the type cover working again, but I suspect something with the hibernation mode.

same happend to me, now iam replaying to u with my type coverd since let the battery to drain till died the Sf3 and then i plugged the typee cover first then i plugged also the charger and then turned it on and the type cover is back so i guess it will happen me the same since this is not the first time after the battery is up the type cover will not work again !
