Surface Pro 4 Jul 2017 Update - Type Cover not working
I updated the latest update Jul 2017 and it bricks my type cover completely. Tried everthing, from reset, volume + and power, everthing including cleaning etc.
I just do not understand. When I did Apr 2017 update, it also half bricked it, but at least using volume+ and power helps, but now totally unusable.
If anyone come across, this, please help.
**The thread is moved to the cover category.**

2018-10-30T16:45:26+00:00 Barb, you are doing great, but other then that: Microsoft will not fix this broken stuff.
I am one of the few with a SP 3 and have the cover- AND Battery issue.
These devices are out of guarantee, MS will not care anymore about it. Too few people hit. Now is the time of SP 6. If this has as many bugs as the SP4 had (graphics card drivers, touch...) half of the guarantee will be over before it starts working.
I can't see any interest of MS to fix this and this will be the end of my Surface journey. Too much spent into signature cover and device for FAR too many problems and now it is unusable since more then half of a year.
Seriously? Great, great disappointment.

2018-10-30T16:00:20+00:00 I'm a MVP/Community Moderator and do NOT work for Microsoft. If I had the power
to do so, I'd replace tablets for everyone with a SP3 that has a non working
battery (myself included) and every SP4 with a dead keyboard and/or shaking
screen syndrome. I email a contact at Microsoft EVERY.SINGLE.DAY about these
type cover issues on SP4 (and a few on SP3). All I ever got back was the work
around I posted which was supposed to be specific to non US typecovers.
If I had a magic wand, I'd use it for sure. But I don't. (And Microsoft wonders
what caused people to give bad ratings to Consumer Reports.. )
>>Barb Bowman offered the following on one of her posts on October 8th but none of it has worked. I am the owner of a business and I am expected to give up my personal PC? How about send me a new one first and after I get it up and running with all of my programs, etc. transferred over I will return this dismal failure of a tablet. Or how about I take a trip to the Apple store?
Unfortunately, I'm concerned by this brick cover gate as well... and I would like to thank you @Barb Bowmanfor all your replies and advice even if the issue is not resolved yet.
I'm pretty sure that Microsoft will do the best to save our Surface but the question is when !

2018-10-30T00:55:00+00:00 New cases emerged recently in 2018.
Now I used it as a desktop, connecting to external monitor, keyboard and mouse - such an expensive and sub-powerful desktop.
Due to the abnormal type cover, the auto-rotation is broken too.

2018-10-28T07:23:30+00:00 C'mon people. Don't let this thread die.
I use my SP4 with Visual Studio for software development, and without a Type Cover this device is pretty useless - AU$1600 down the drain.
A full-size keyboard is not practical when mobile, and I hear the Bluetooth keyboards drain the battery real fast.
Totally impractical now for anything but surfing the web and the odd email.
