Surface Pro 4 Jul 2017 Update - Type Cover not working

I updated the latest update Jul 2017 and it bricks my type cover completely. Tried everthing, from reset, volume + and power, everthing including cleaning etc.

I just do not understand. When I did Apr 2017 update, it also half bricked it, but at least using volume+ and power helps, but now totally unusable.

If anyone come across, this, please help.

    Hi Barb,

Maybe you could pass this through to your contact if you see fit.

As some background I'm suffering from overnight battery drain from a fully charged unit as well as the keyboard issue. Both instigated at the same creators update.

After a full charge then leaving the surface shut down for 3-4 days (which fully drains the battery as it wont switch on without a power supply)... If I attach my type cover it works and functions fully I can even put the unit to sleep and wake up without any issues.  If I restart or shut down however the keyboard functionality is lost again.

I've replicated this behavior several times now

    Thanks

    Neil

I have the same issue. Happened suddenly in the middle of a meeting. No connection to type cover. It just registers as a HID keyboard, but neither keys nor touchpad works. Even disabling/enabling in UEFI doesnt do anything. I also tried replacing it with another, since I manage around 200 SP4s I have spares, and that didnt do anything either.

Just noting I used this work around and it DID work:

    "Workaround #1

    1.    Power+volume up to boot into UEFI settings.

    2.    Choose Devices.

    3.    Toggle Type Cover Port off and then on."

Thanks Barb for working so hard on this.
