Surface Pro 4 Jul 2017 Update - Type Cover not working

I updated the latest update Jul 2017 and it bricks my type cover completely. Tried everthing, from reset, volume + and power, everthing including cleaning etc.

I just do not understand. When I did Apr 2017 update, it also half bricked it, but at least using volume+ and power helps, but now totally unusable.

If anyone come across, this, please help.

Same problem. One night there was an update and the next morning, everything stops working. This is clearly a firmware problem. Have tried everything there is on all known websites in reference to this problem. Type cover is just dead. And the notion of Microsoft to suggest a wipe and reinstall is simply irresponsible. Paid a premium price for this, and learned my lesson. Productivity loss and time spent to rectify is just crazy!. Switching to a new device and not turning back.

Many are holding on to this as it is not something cheap and affordable that we could just throw and get a new one. I understand the pain that others are facing.

    From Malaysia.

While I am working with the Typecover at some point it stops responding.

A little later a message appears telling me that:

"USB Device not recognized, .... the last device connected malfunctioned ..."

If I remove the Typecover and reconnect it (perhaps also if I restart the pc) it becomes responsive again; but it always freezes again after a while.

installed the new driver, but no improvement.

    could you please help?

that's the date they were published to the download site. they were available in

WU on 9/14. it's the word "release" that is confusing, as opposed to using the

date "Published" to the non WU download center.

it would be clearer to state:

"released to Windows Update on September 14 and made available in the download

center (link) on September 21 if you can't get them or have issues with WU".
