I updated the latest update Jul 2017 and it bricks my type cover completely. Tried everthing, from reset, volume + and power, everthing including cleaning etc.
I just do not understand. When I did Apr 2017 update, it also half bricked it, but at least using volume+ and power helps, but now totally unusable.
If anyone come across, this, please help.

If you've already wiped the device clean and the Type Cover still won't work, it's highly possible that the problem is caused by a hardware issue. Have you already tried using other known working Type Covers? You might want to check MVP Barb Bowman's suggestions on this thread.
Give us an update, and let us know if you have any additional concerns.

I am checking in to see if Microsoft has looked any further info on why my type cover on my surface Pro hasn't worked since the July firmware update. I have done everything, wiped the computer clean, gone it to the Microsoft store for help. There was a thread surface pro 4 july 2017 update, but that has disappeared. At this point I need to see if there is anything else that can be done or do I need to get a new computer. Right now the answer seems to be that there is nothing that can be done and your surface pro is out of warranty. If someone could please let me know, I would appreciate it.
there have been other reports of this (starting after a firmware update). even
reimaging completely does not fix it for the others that reported it. Microsoft
will not comment on the issue. all you can do is exchange. and if you are out of
warranty, it will cost you.

The Issue:
I have a surface pro 4 that I bought just under a year ago. Recently, when I power on my surface with the type cover attached I will either get a black screen or my log in screen. When I get the log in screen it does not allow me to log in or use any touch capabilities. Also, I am not able to use the type cover at all (and the keys are not backlit). If I remove my type cover I have complete use of my surface without issues but only when the type cover is not attached. My fiance also has a surface pro 4 and his type cover does not work on my surface but my type cover and his own works on his surface without issues.
What I have tried:
I have tried multiple forced shut downs and restarts without correction of this issue.
I have cleaned both the surface and type cover attachment sites with rubbing alcohol.
I have checked for updates on my surface and installed them with and without the type cover attached.
My surface is completely useless with the type cover attached. I have no other ideas on how to fix this issue. Please help!!
Has anyone found a solution yet or has Microsoft replied??
