Surface Pro 4 Jul 2017 Update - Type Cover not working

I updated the latest update Jul 2017 and it bricks my type cover completely. Tried everthing, from reset, volume + and power, everthing including cleaning etc.

I just do not understand. When I did Apr 2017 update, it also half bricked it, but at least using volume+ and power helps, but now totally unusable.

If anyone come across, this, please help.

    Hi Barb,

This really isn't looking good. its very frustrating that as I'm out of warranty ad I don't have the opportunity to go to a MS store unless I take a flight. Microsoft seem keen to try and extract money from me for support but it looks like there isn't a fix out there at the moment. I'm hopeful that this will get addressed and they have bricked their own piece of hardware.

I'll follow the above threads and hope for a fix.

    Thanks

    Neil

    Hi Ruz,

I've tried cleaning the connections. I can't reinstall the driver as the only device in my device manager is a HID keyboard for some reason.

    Hi Neil,

Since the Surface Type Cover connects to another Surface Pro 4, the conflict most likely arises from the installed software on your own Surface. Is reinstalling the Type Cover's driver one of the troubleshooting you've performed?

If you are yet to reinstall the driver for the Type Cover, you may find this guide helpful. You'll also find other steps on the link provided.

Let us know if you need more help.

    Regards.

Earlier this month my SP4 Core m3 under the July updates followed by the Anniversary update.

Following from this my keyboard is refusing to connect to my SP4.  I've tried the type cover on a friends SP4 and the keyboard connects fine but his does not connect to my SP4.

    So far I have followed the advice from Microsoft;

    Disconnect restart reconnect

    Two button restart

    Repair installation

    Full ISO re-installation of windows

Installation of latest driver packages from Microsoft

and undoubtedly a few more which I have forgotten

    All to no avail unfortunately.

My friends SP4 has driver which are dated more recent than mine but when I try to update the device drivers i'm told that the currently installed are more up to date than the copied drivers from his device.

Any advice on what I could try next would be appreciated as my device is out of warranty and I don't feel like paying Microsoft for the pleasure of sorting something which they've caused with an update!

    Thanks in advance

    Neil
