Surface Pro 4 Jul 2017 Update - Type Cover not working

I updated the latest update Jul 2017 and it bricks my type cover completely. Tried everthing, from reset, volume + and power, everthing including cleaning etc.

I just do not understand. When I did Apr 2017 update, it also half bricked it, but at least using volume+ and power helps, but now totally unusable.

If anyone come across, this, please help.

    1. No - we don't have access to any similar devices to try a swap with
    2. Windows 10 - all updates applied
    3. will this delete / lose pictures, music, images, documents etc?  If so I'm not keen as these aren't necessarily all back up as yet.

I forgot to add that I don't have access to a different keyboard (this device is my wife's and she is using it at home).  I am going to visit a local store to see if we can try one of their keyboards and if it works we will assume the keyboard is faulty and purchase a new one as it's out of warranty.

that certainly isn't "all" the fixes.. please answer all 3 questions below.

    1. have you tried your type cover on a friend or co-workers Surface and vice

    versa?

    1. what version of Windows are you running and how did you roll back?
    2. did you try a reimage from a downloadable recovery image

    ?

I've done the holding down the power button for 30 seconds thing and the holding down the power button and the up volume key for 15 seconds thing.

I've deleted the driver and let Windows reinstall it.

I've just run the Windows Software Fix Tool (as suggested elsewhere) and none of these things work.

As I said above if I go into Device Manager and look at Keyboards (and view hidden devices) I can see a 'hidden' keyboard that has a status saying the keyboard isn't connected.

As I understand, since its firmware there is no way to fix this (safely)
