Half brick means I need to do the volume+and power to make it works. However, after the latest update, the keyboard is totally useless.
Want to know if anyone has the same problem after the latest update

I updated the latest update Jul 2017 and it bricks my type cover completely. Tried everthing, from reset, volume + and power, everthing including cleaning etc.
I just do not understand. When I did Apr 2017 update, it also half bricked it, but at least using volume+ and power helps, but now totally unusable.
If anyone come across, this, please help.

I just spent 45 minutes at the Microsoft store. My cover works on other surface pros. Since the upgrade my computer does not recognize any cover. Your store doesn't know why, very frustrating.
do you know anyone with a SP3/4 or new Surface Pro 2017? can you test their
keyboard on your SP4 and yours on theirs?
>>My type cover no longer works & I live no where near a MS store.
I have a type cover from when I had the sp3( gave to my sister) & nothing happens. But both keyboards work on sp3. The latest update ruined something. Surface type cover filter device is no longer in device manager.
Hi after a recent surface pro 4 firmware update, my 'surface type cover filter device' driver disappeared, and my type cover no longer works. I suspect this is due to some issue with a corsair keyboard driver i installed recently.
I have tried doing a restart, hard restart, uninstalling the existing keyboard drivers and clicking on scan for hardware changes, but the surface type cover filter device doesn't come back. My type cover was attached throughout this process.
I speculate that some part of the 3rd party driver blocks the installation of the type cover filter, overwrites it, or just hides it. To begin with i don't know how this can be allowed by MSFT but I have since uninstalled the corsair software, but am still unable to reinstall the type cover driver either manually or through windows update.
I do not wish to refresh windows as i don't want to have to reinstall everything, and i can't roll back the surface firmware updates.
I hope the good folks at MSFT can do something about the surface drivers not installing properly.
Help!!!
My surface type cover stopped working entirely since the latest update. Type cover driver can't be found under device manager - keyboards. Please help! I tried everything from restarting several times to resetting the device and I don't want to do that again. I hate using the on-screen keyboard it's annoying! BTW, my device is surface pro 4 and type cover signature alcatara (burgundy). I love this keyboard, I want to be able to use it again.
