Surface Go uefi version is 1.0.34 and No Bootable Device error

Recently receiving "No Bootable Device" error on Surface go running UEFI 1.0.34.

I've tried all the recovery disk options without success.

Have also noticed a few reddit threads with similar issues with this version in the last week or so

Anyone else seen this and managed to recover their device?

I have lodged multiple support tickets, confirmed there is no way for a user to roll back this firmware update.

I have also lodged a complaint here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/microsoftfeedback

Edit: 11/7 - After 5-6 weeks I've finally been able to send it back and it's been a fee-free replacement. It has been a lot of back and forth and mentioning this thread with so many other instances of it.

Still waiting for someone to lodge this as a firmware issue.....and remove that version of the firmware from Microsoft site.

I talked to the live chat and initially they said they would replace free of charge. Then the email came saying it would be chargeable. I have replied saying to escalate and they are no longer answering.

I think the issue is making the general public aware of this. Only 483 users have reported same issue on this thread. Most normal users wouldn’t bother looking for an answer and would just replace their device. The word needs to be spread for this be effective. The irony is that if Microsoft actually just replaced the few users that actually contacted them it would be less damaging for them . But in the scheme of things this is very little money for them but a huge inconvenience for us.

I couldn't tell you why I got a replacement, it works but I think it's a refurbished unit as the surface connect cable with several different cables is flaky. I may have to open another ticket.

When you chat/call MS support, point them to this thread. That's what I did. Good luck to all of you. And don't give up till it's fixed. You didn't break it, Microsoft did.

Do a search for Windows to Go. I haven't tried it, but others have mentioned being able to run Windows from a USB on their bricked Surface Go. At least until you're in a position to get it replaced. So sorry this happened to you.

You can access the UEFI screen even with your bricked device : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/how-to-use-surface-uefi-df2c8942-dfa0-859d-4394-95f45eb1c3f9

You can adjust the UEFI settings only during system startup. To load the UEFI firmware settings menu:

    1. Shut down your Surface and wait about 10 seconds to make sure it's off.
    2. Press and hold the volume-up button on your Surface, and, at the same time, press and release the power button.
    3. The Microsoft or Surface logo appears on your screen. Continue to hold the volume-up button. Release the button once the UEFI screen appears.
