Surface Book 2 battery drain whilst off

Wow, can you be more childish and petulant?  These issues are very similar with an independent variable (shutdown vs hiber/sleep).  While my problem occurred during sleep and hibernation, this thread pointed me in the right direction and I was able to find the cause for my problem.  God forbid this thread try and help anyone...  If you troubleshoot for a living or are in IT, you should probably find another career as it involves trial and error and ruling out variables and scenarios...  and if that is the tone you take with people who ask you for help then you should definitely find another career.  Might I suggest politics?

I have this issue too. The realtek usb driver for the card reader is draining power in standby. I fixed this by doing those steps: (the english terms might not be fitting 100%, my windows has a different language)

• Find Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader in device manager
• Right click on it and select "update driver"
• Select "Search on my computer"
• Choose "Select from a list of available drivers on my computer"
• Select "USB-mass storage device" instead of "Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader"
• click on "Continue"

If you do this the icon in the explorer for the SD card changes to the standard icon windows uses for drives. This is also a good indicator if the driver was changed by windows automatically. This happens from time to time especially on major spring or fall updates.

So far I didn't notice any problems with the default USB mass storage device driver. But the power drain in standby is gone and I can keep my SD card attached at all times.

my battery drains around 10% overnight despite shutting down.

also tablet battery doesn't drain until base battery drain to 40% causing high cycles on keyboard battery.

I've been having the same issue with my SB2 draining during sleep.  I noticed in the event viewer there was an event in the event viewer (System logs), event id 196, USB Device draining system power when system is idle, and then it gives the hardwareId.  I found out in Device Manager that it is the Realtek USB Card reader (which I'm using with a microSD card for storage).  I'm trying to figure out if the drivers are the issue or the hardware, or both.   I can't find any driver updates after the driver I have installed.   Still working on the issue but it might point you or someone else in the right direction.

So I have another update. I have sent in the replacement device for another replacement device since the first replacement had backlight bleeding problems. I got the second replacement today, and guess what? the device wouldn't power on since it was completely drained! I have not yet tested the battery drain problem since I only got it today, but I can quite assure you that it also has the problem since it came empty from storage, which probably means that the battery was draining while the laptop was in storage. Haha, I really can't believe this! 3 Laptops with the exact same battery drain problem. I really don't know what to do anymore, should I try with another replacement? I am now 95% sure that ALL surface book 2 suffer from the same problem and that many people don't realize it or use it plugged it all the time or do not leave their laptop off for a long period of time. Pretty sad...

MICROSOFT WE ARE ALL STILL WAITING FOR AN OFFICIAL ANSWER! PLEASE BE SO KIND AS TO ANSWER!

Has anyone done any tests to see if disabling Fast Startup has an effect on this problem?
