Surface Pro 7 Overheating when charging

So I've purchased and exchanged 3 brand new surface pro 7s in the last 20 days from best buy because of this issue. Everytime I plugged in the charger, within 5 mins, the backside of the Surface pro 7 starts overheating to an uncomfortable temperature. This was the case for the last 2 Surface Pro 7s as well. Their respective lot number was 1945 and 1943. I'm beginning to wonder if this is an issue with this particular batch ... Is there any answers for this?

    Just bought mine today, and yeah... it's pretty hot when plugged in. Google led me to this post...

    I was updating and charging at the same time and heard a device disconnect sound, next thing I know the touch screen stopped working and I had to plug in a mouse to restart.

    I also unplugged the charger. After restart, the touch screen worked again, so I'm not sure if it's overheating or driver update...

    But anyway, I have it plugged in again now, and it's super hot. Not sure if it's safe to leave it plugged in?

    Just brought mines yesterday to replace surface book 2. The one have now is surface pro 7 and It's overheating and hot to the touch. It hasn't cooled down yet. Nor will it turn on.

    I know you mentioned the warranty was expired, but I'd try reaching out to Microsoft anyway. Their customer service is actually really good when it comes to Surface products.

    My surface pro 7s (i5 256GB and i7 512GB) bottom screen flicker when the device overheat. The problem started to appear right after the expiry of warranty of the two surfaces. This issue has been happening for the past 4 month, but it would only appear once or twice a month for each device. The screen flickering basically disappear once the devices have cooled off after few hours. I'm quite disappointed the the surface pro 7s since i do not have the same problem with surface pro 5 & 6 that my kids are currently using.

    My SP7's temp get's to 40 C when idle and just charging. Not talking about intensive jobs.

    The reason I am concerned with this is that my SP4 had no issue like this alrhough the CPU might have been less efficient.

    I use no case.

    So you say this is normal?

    Then I am disappointed, as it might decrease the battery life, which is already crappy and Microsoft does not stand behind it. My SP4 had a bulged battery.
