Battery Drains While Shutdown

I have read many posts and made many attempts to correct this problem without any success.

I was traveling for 3 months and when I returned the battery was completely dead.

Also, each night since my return, the battery drains as much as 12% overnight while shutdown.

I have all MS updates but the problem continues.

Please advise.

THX! :)

I have a 4 year old Acer laptop - that is literally held together with tape. I use it more than my Surface Pro 4.

Everyday I use my Acer for work, I've never had a single issue with it in all those years.

I boot my Surface for the soul purpose to try and fix it.

    Waste of time and money.

There is one more fix I'm going to try over the weekend, which has worked for other people Tim - I'll let you know the out come on this thread.

If you tried the wipe and reimage from the downloadable recovery image, it is
likely that your battery is near end of life. All you can do is exchange for a
refurb out of warranty for $450US. Sorry.

Perhaps its time for a general recall of the Surface Pro 4?

I tried all of the suggested 'fixes' in the whole thread as well as your recommendation Barb and my Surface Pro 4 is still losing charge while shut down - 100% charged battery flat in 24hrs  :'(

Any more suggestions to try and sort this problem out Barb/ people?

    Hello again Barb ,

I completed all of the above in regards to the recovery drive.

It finished late last night so I shutdown  (via the windows icon in the bottom left corner) and left my 100% charged Surface Pro over night. When I woke up I booted the device and it had 79% battery. So it dropped 21% over night when shutdown :(

But I didn't do a 'generic' windows update after the recovery drive install - I am in the process of doing that now (there were a lot of updates needed) Then I will again shutdown in the exact same manner as before 100% charged and see what happens.

I'll give it 5 to 8 hours and reboot.   Crossing fingers!

I'll message you and let you know the outcome.

Thanks again for your time and I'll speak to you again soon,

    All the best, Steven
