I've got a new Surface Pro 2017 and today the mouse pointer being driven by the touchpad has started freezing for 1-2 seconds.
All the latest updates are installed.
I've removed the mouse from device manager and then ran Scan for new Hardware.
I've removed and re-installed the lastest Surface firmware package.
But it still does it, however it only seems to happen when the device is on power. It works fine on battery.
Any ideas?

Yes. Tried everything and have wasted so much time on this. There was a time when I would've said this was the best windows laptop/tablet device ever. Not so much now. Does MS know they have a real problem here? I depend on using the type cover touchpad....
I have a Surface Pro 5 and following a MS update a week or so ago, the touchpad has been rendered useless. This is my primary mouse device. Thinking that my surface was getting old I ordered the latest Pro 7. The Pro 7 exhibits the exact same problem. I subsequently enrolled into the Windows Insider Program and am running Build 19608.rs_prerelease.200410-1438 and this release doesn't solve the problem. Microsoft has a fundamental problem in the driver/software they introduced and customers like me are now trying to figure out what we should do next. Refund and alternative????
The touchpad on my Surface Laptop 2 has always behaved faultlessly. That is what has made me think it must be a hardware issue with the Surface Pro.
RichardWeber1, I agree with you - especially about the Surface (happened when I had a Surface Pro 3 and now happens on my Surface Pro 5) - but I would also say this is a greater Windows 10 problem. I get the occasional mouse hiccups on an AMD Ryzen 3900x computer I built myself - and usually rebooting and moving to another port in the motherboard fixes it for a few weeks.. Then, boom.. starts happening again. Nothing is worse than having a mouse that goes unresponsive for 2-20 seconds at random - except for the Microsoft response of not acknowledging the widespread issue, telling you to do crazy things like format/reinstall or using **** tutorials that never work, and generally acting like mouse hiccups are always the fault of the user. If it's my fault, just tell me **** I did so I don't encounter the issue, please.
After resetting your surface, you will still be able to see office 365 pre-installed in the programs list in setting. Trying to uninstall it directly from the settings might yield an error. The only reliable method I found to fully uninstall it is using the tool MS provided.
