Surface Pro 4, Screen Flickering, Shaking

hello,

my sp4 started to flicker a few months back thinking it was a software issue. then it got worse as the longer i use it. i also notice that it flickers when its hot at the back of the surface. tried all the suggestion same as mr.grahamhatley but it still flickers. it gotten worse, flicker+double/triple image+blinking and later BSOD, u name it. so dissapointed. call the microsoft and talked to the software engineer (i think) and she did a remote access to my sp4 from her office. she checked that the window and firmware was ok. when she saw the flicker, she recommend to do fresh start. we did the fresh start and when it came so cortana welcoming me to the window, i was so HAPPY as it still flicker! the software engineer told me that the graphic and the screen was faulty. Very glad to hear it.

i just want to thank the microsoft because invented a very good thing such as the sp4, just after a year you just made my day! now i can only use my sp4 for 10 minutes and it will flickers. need to wait for an hour just to use it again. very productive. to do 1 to 1 replacement i need to add rm2600 (which is half the price of the new sp4) which is not guaranteed it will not flicker for the new sp4. just hoping that microsoft would recall the sp4 and do the repair on the graphics .

can anybody list the options that you have tried?

**Cause:**If there is noting being animated/moving on the screen, then this problem starts appearing and the screen starts flickering.

Solution: There must be some animation or motion on the screen. It can be as small as blinking cursor on the place of entering text, animated screensaver or mouse pointer motion. Of course, none of these options is available everytime e.g. when we are just reading a static pdf page of webpage etc. So here is a smart way... CHANGE THE MOUSE POINTER INTO AN ANIMATED POINTERfrom themes setting, because the mouse pointer is the only thing that always remain available on your screen. 

Follow the steps below;

**Step 1:**Right-click on desktop, and click 'Personalize'

**Step 2:**Click on 'Themes'

**Step 3:**Click on 'Mouse cursor'

**Step 4:**In the 'Mouse Properties' setting window, select 'Normal Select' under 'Customize' list.

Step 5: Click 'Browse' button

Step 6: In the Browse window, select any cursor file ending with '.ani' file extension. (e.g. I chose 'aero_working_xl')

Step 7: Click 'Open' button

Step 8: Click 'OK' button to close 'Mouse Properties' window

Step 9:...Enjoy, as problem is gone

**[Note:**Remember sometimes you bring your mouse pointer to certain places where it becomes static (e.g. a hand cursor under hyperlinks). In such cases, the screen may start flickering again, there is frozen screen and there is nothing else on the screen being animated/moving for long. However no sooner you move your pointer away from the hyperlink, and it becomes an animated cursor, it again becomes normal.]

Hi guys. I have disabled screen auto brightness in settings. This has cured the problem. Please check my older threads for the link.. This works and I have had no problems since.
