How is your battery life on the Surface Pro 7?

Does the HP truly have better battery though? I've owned surfaces and surface pros since Surface RT! None of them (except probably RT) had very good battery. 4-5 hours is standard for Pro since I've been using them.

The battery drain issue goes BACK SEVERAL YEARS to the Surface Pros 3 & 4.  Very disappointing...

If you search ANY of the Surface Pro versions you will see the same complaint and Microsoft has NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM.

Maybe a "Class Action" law suit can be filed to compel Microsoft to make things right

I have had a chance to try both versions of the HP Spectre x360 2-in-1.  One with a full HD screen and the other with a 4k AMOLED screen.  The AMOLED screen is, without doubt, the best screen I have ever seen on a laptop.  But the battery life is about comparable to the SP7.  If you are satisfied with the short battery life, then the choice comes down to whether you prefer the (really appealing) design factor of the SP7, or the incredible screen of the HP (at a lower price).  Typing experience is comparable on both, though the SP7 design gives you that nice slanted/angled surface to type on.  If 4 or 5 hours of battery life is unacceptable to you, the HP with the full HD screen blows the SP7 out of the water. Incredibly long battery.  Rated at 22 hours, but in reality you will get 10 to 12 without trying.  The screen is not as nice as the SP7 for working with documents as the text isn't as sharp, and it lacks the 3:2 ratio.  But it is a bigger screen and for viewing media it is better -- edge-to-edge.  For me, there is no choice.  I need the battery life so the SP7 won't work. . The HP is an incredibly portable machine, just not as portable as the SP7.  But still very portable.  Screen size and edge-to-edge design is a big plus.  But the battery life makes it a runaway winner.  Plus it costs a lot less than the SP7 (in either AMOLED or, even more so in HD).  If you want the battery life of the HD screen I recommend getting yours built custom through the HP site so you can get 16 gig of RAM.  Best Buy's HD version has only 8 gig of RAM and it can get glitchy with video.  If you want the beauty of the AMOLED screen, the Best Buy in-stock AMOLED comes with 16 gig of RAM and a tb of SSD storage.  Costs more than on the HP site, but you have to wait about a month for HP to build and ship.  My HD, 16 gig, 1 tb machine is arriving tomorrow, March 20, after placing the order on Feb 20.  Priced at about $1155 plus tax (on sale, which they have from time-to-time) and shipping included.  That's with a 10th generation i7.  You can get a 10th gen i5 for about $850 or $900 at entry level.  The machine includes a carrying case and a pen (and a keyboard, of course) so any way you look at it, it is a bargain next to the SP7.
