Surface Pro keeps going to sleep every 1-2 minutes of being idle

Love the idea behind the Surface Pro, but been having software and hardware issues lately. One of the software issues I've been experiencing is that when my Surface Pro first goes to sleep after a restart and I wake it up, it then begins going into sleep mode every like 1-2 minutes of being idle. I noticed this when reading some news on the internet.

I double checked my power options I have my current power plan (based off Balanced) set to put my Surface Pro to sleep (while plugged in) after 30 minutes of being idle!

Anyone know what's causing this problem? Is this another OS bug in Windows Ei8ht? I've avoided contacting the Surface support team cause every time I've contacted them about technical problems like this, their only solution is to perform a system refresh.

go to desktop mode, go to screen saver, if it says blank, 1 minute, change it to none. it fixed mine SP3, Same issue.

    I tried all the security, admin, reg, blablabla things to fix this. Only thing I could do is delay it by turning on the screen saver and running it up to 30 min. That sort of starts the clock off, so the computer does not default to 60 seconds or whatever it is.

    Arghhhh!!! So elegant a computer, so incompetent a software product manager!! Funny thing is I could not get a job at MS on a bet. Yet they make such stupid mistakes. Technical recruiting at its finest...

    Thanks for the reply. I tried setting the power option settings to default but there was absolutely no change. I also tried to put the power options to the lowest setting and  it still continues to sleep every 30 seconds. If anyone has any other suggestions that might help I would appreciate it and certainly give it a try to c if it works.

    My surface pro 2 keeps going to sleep every 1-2 minutes. I checked my settings for this and the problem still persists. I work on my computer daily but I am in no way a computer genius- therefore I am trying to find a safe download to correct this as the explanations I have read are apparently only understood if your a "computer programmer. :). I am not sure how to create files In the system etc. please help 

    Try restoring all your power plans to default settings, the link is pretty clear when you go to change settings of the power plans, this fixed it for me, however my computer wouldn't go to sleep but it would hibernate but that was because I changed all my "sleep" settings to "hibernate" settings. But ya let me know if that works for you too because it was super annoying for me... and just in case the problem comes back.
