I have an Apple Airport Extreme 802.11ac wireless router at home and am only connecting at a max of speed of 72Mbps (usually closer to 11Mbps if I'm more than 20 feet away from the WAP). I have two other 802.11ac laptops at home (Samsung AB9+ and rMBP) and my two other computers are connecting up at 800Mbps+ and pulling down the same on Internet speed tests; yes, I have real GigE connectivity. Is anyone else having these problems?

It doesn't have to do with channels. The problem is that when the SP3 wakes up it automatically reverts to 2.4Ghz even though it was connected to 5Ghz. The only way to fix this is to all us to choose the preferred band like we can with any other wireless driver or to specify a different SSID for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. I don't want to set different names I like for my devices to be able to go between the two based on how far away from the router is.
Why won't MS let us choose the preferred band on the wireless card?
If it goes back to 2.4 is because it does not find the 5 Ghz. So we want to know why. So we need somebody to use different SSID for both bands and fixed channels. Just for testing purpose.
