Surface Pro 1 on Windows 8.1 reboots when Type Cover 2 is removed

I just noticed this recently but sometimes I get a Random reboot not even doing anything particular. I also noticed twice that when I attached my Type Cover 2 it reboots.  Example I attached it and the SURFACE logo shows and it boots up.

Anyone else experiencing this.?

Some updates seem to fix it.  And then another useless update comes along and breaks it.

I had 3 reboots in one day this weekend.

Lets face it.  Microsoft has never bothered with this thread.  If they cared, they would have fixed it months ago.  Here we are months later with zero effort from Microsoft.  i suppose they see this the same as the xbox 360.  They have our money now.  Until we raise this issue up into a more visible light they will just keep ignoring us.

I have MS Surface Pro 2, 8 gb, 256 gb solid state.

My computer randomly reboots... (say I'll be working on One Note or taking my Pro 2 from up right to decline position).

I've noticed a few warnings/errors in the logs perhaps worth noting:

The speed of processor 3 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report.

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device HID\VID_045E&PID_079C&MI_00&Col01\7&2c2e2e14&0&0000.

And yes, I am of the belief that some Microsoft update triggered this, and could readily be fixed with a hotfix.

I've had my machine for 1 month, and it has only happened within the past week or so... Can't recall the exact date when it has appeared.

My update logs indicate that I did apply some MSFT updates on the 13th...

Any ideas/issues or how to go about correcting this?

I had a restart again today. I was just phoning via Skype and disconnected the cover. BAM! Restart.

I had activated the save energy plan and set my max cpu power to 40%. But I don't know, if that had something to do with it.

    Nope, no docking station here.

But sadly: I had a restart today =(. Kernel Power event is in the event log, so... It seems like the same error =(.

I have a open case with Microsoft - so any info you could add would be helpful. Are you using the version of Windows that came on the Surface?

Yes, fully updated and with the latest FirmWare-Update. I now have a TypeCover2 and I suspect, that this time it was something different. Before the update, my device restarted while connecting/disconnecting the cover. Today it just restarted while I closed the surface with the cover. So it could be something completely different and a one-time-error.

Mine would just restart randomly when moving the keyboard. Unfortunately I no longer have a original Pro to try. My Pro 2 is working fine.

I installed the update and used my Surface Pro last night in my lap and didn't have any reboots.  I didn't have the cover on for all that time, but so far so good.
