Ok. I did it. It rebooted with the Surface Logo and installing probably each firmware update then came up. I haven't check for any significance speed increase but I will pay attention to my routine.
Surface Pro 1 on Windows 8.1 reboots when Type Cover 2 is removed
I just noticed this recently but sometimes I get a Random reboot not even doing anything particular. I also noticed twice that when I attached my Type Cover 2 it reboots. Example I attached it and the SURFACE logo shows and it boots up.
Anyone else experiencing this.?

2014-02-11T21:16:35+00:00 I got the notice to upgrade too. I'm scared due to the Surface Pro 2 Dec Update that didn't go to well.
I've had no problem. Actually seems faster.
it shows the surface screen a few times and looks like it is in a loop but it is fine.

2014-02-11T18:57:44+00:00 I've just installed the Surface Pro firmware update.
According to the Surface Pro support pages it includes a fix for the restart issues...

2014-02-10T13:14:12+00:00 Been having the same issue - I'll sleep my Surface, and when I open it up again later, I find it's restarting and not waking up from sleep. This happens at least 2-3 times a day.
I have the type cover, and all this started around the time I've upgraded to 8.1.
Is Microsoft doing anything about this?
