Surface Pro 1 on Windows 8.1 reboots when Type Cover 2 is removed

I just noticed this recently but sometimes I get a Random reboot not even doing anything particular. I also noticed twice that when I attached my Type Cover 2 it reboots.  Example I attached it and the SURFACE logo shows and it boots up.

Anyone else experiencing this.?

    Greetings Kyaoll,

Has the issue only been occurring since upgrading to Windows 8.1? Do you get any kind of error message or does it just go to a black screen, Surface Splash Screen then Logon screen as if it restarted while in use?

So far it has only happened while I have been browsing and I don't think it is because of overheating. I wasn't on YouTube or playing intensive games. I was just browsing.

I have been using desktop IE 11 and have installed all the windows updates including upgrading to windows 8.1 pro. I think that this is the cause of my problems to be honest.

Same issue here. Had 8.1 for awhile now. Seemed to start doing this after the firmware update. Very random. Can be watching a video, working on an Excel spread sheet etc. Doesn't seem to be type cover related but could be. Again started with the latest firmware update.

Sounds like I'm not the only one. Ever since installing the update last night I have been having problems with certain websites. There is a thread at another website that reports similar problem when viewing YouTube. I notice the problem most often on bensbargains.net When I scroll down the page a ways, IE stops working. It has happened several times for mew on that website. I am running the original Surface Pro. Hopefully there will be a quick fix.
