My advice is to try it. If more then one person can reproduce the issue then we have a confirmed issue and something Microsoft can diagnose.
- Drain the battery to say 30%
- Unplug type 2 cover
- Plugin type 2 cover
Surface should power down immediately.
Try power up surface by pressing power button (without power plugged in). It shouldn't work.
Plug power in.
Power up surface by pressing power button.
It should work.
There may be differences with different models and keyboards. I can only go by what I use (surface pro 2 and type 2 cover).
I had one instance where the reboot cause my surface not to want to power on. It flashed the low battery sign at me, but I knew there was still plenty of battery left. Push and hold the power button and the volume up button and it will reset so you can power
on from battery. I wasn't near a plug at the time.
