Greetings,
Is anyone still experiencing the issue with their Surface Pro randomly restarting, or restarting when connecting a cover?
Hi Steven,
I am having this problem as well. The symptom is complete loss of power when you disconnect and reconnect type 2 cover or if you wiggle type 2 cover connection.
I am certain this issue is related to POWER level of surface. I happen to have a surface pro 2. When this issue occurs the following happens:
- If power cable is unplugged you cannot power up the surface by pressing power button. You have to press power button and volume up button
- If after this issue occurs you plug power cable in then surface will start by just pressing power button
I have noticed this issue occurs when:
- Surface is running on battery
- Surface has less than 50% power
The problem with this issue is it results in DATA LOSS and is completely unacceptable for a business tablet.
I suggest anyone reading this make as much noise as possible as I think this is not a SOFTWARE issue. SOFTWARE does not cause a device to POWER DOWN immediately - software bugs cause BLUE SCREENS of DEATH!
This is a hardware issue that is probably exacerbated by the type cover due to power draw. I would go as far as to say this issue may require a PRODUCT RECALL.
Please advise what Microsoft is doing about this officially.
Peter
This is naive to say that Software issues always / only cause BSOD's. Hardware issues also cause BSOD's Many issues with RAM cause the BSOD.
Plus software issues can exist and a BSOD is not produced.
