Surface Pro 1 on Windows 8.1 reboots when Type Cover 2 is removed

I just noticed this recently but sometimes I get a Random reboot not even doing anything particular. I also noticed twice that when I attached my Type Cover 2 it reboots. Example I attached it and the SURFACE logo shows and it boots up.

Anyone else experiencing this.?

    Greetings,

Is anyone still experiencing the issue with their Surface Pro randomly restarting, or restarting when connecting a cover?

I was still getting restarts yesterday after installing the patches. After I uninstalled then reinstalled KB2917993 so that it was the last one installed, and all has been good today.

Yesterday, I was able to cause a restart at will by rotating the tablet and turning it on. Or by having it in profile when it turned off, attaching the cover and turning it on. Having the cover on also forces a rotate unless the cover is folded all the way back.

Today, I've purposely caused rotates on power on and had the cover on and off a few times too, and no problem in sight. So I strongly suspect that KB2917993 fixes it, but that the optional cumulative update that I had installed after installing it somehow reverted the fix, or on the first install, somehow it didn't really take for some unknown reason.

Well I think I'm done with Microsoft. I will hand this surface down the family line once I'm ready for my next upgrade and get the latest tablet from another company. This is the response I received yesterday:

    Hello (my name),

I took a look at the multiple email threads you've sent us, and I'm unable to pinpoint one reason as to why your device isn't working correctly. With all the firmware issues and the sizzling sound it's now making I would set up a repair to get the device exchanged. If you're still experiencing any issues please reply to this email and I'll keep this ticket opened. You can create a repair at myservice.surface.com

If you have any questions or concerns please reply to this email.

    Thank you

Well guess what I am unable to do a ticket from the support site. I emailed him back telling him this. Mind you my warranty expires next month. I guess I'm stuck with this device. By the time they reach me again the time will be up. I tried to be patient but this is ridiculous.

I will be monitoring the Lenovo Yoga line and Dell Venue's. It is really sad.

Microsoft Support apparently Failed me and all the confidence I had in them. If the device worked properly it would be awesome but you have to take care of those who spent over a $1000 for your items and accessories which those are $100+ as well.

I don't get why you won't send it back to be replaced?

I have already attempted before and they sent it back unchanged.

Now when I attempt to open a ticket I can't open the warranty for it.

    it Says this:

    Request Service

Information:

!

No services found

No service offers are available.
---

Talk to them on the Chat facility and get them to sort it for you so you can get a replacement...
