Surface Pro 1 on Windows 8.1 reboots when Type Cover 2 is removed

I just noticed this recently but sometimes I get a Random reboot not even doing anything particular. I also noticed twice that when I attached my Type Cover 2 it reboots.  Example I attached it and the SURFACE logo shows and it boots up.

Anyone else experiencing this.?

    What confuses me the most is the irrational behaviour. I can not reproduce the restart all the time. I just reset the keys again, hoping, that this time it worked.

    The way I reproduced it was to remove then reattach my type cover... then repeat until it restarted.

    I've just been told by an MS rep via the online chat that ALL Surface devices are to receive a firmware update on 14th January.  

    Fingers crossed it will resolve all issues.

    Very strange indeed. You just reset the keys, didn't you? What does the delete keys option do? Should I try this as well?

    Thanks for all your help anyway. I hope, it's reallyna driver issue and that it will be resolved soon. I think, it could be related to the firmware update, which prepares the device for the 8.1 update.

    I factory reset my device from the recovery partition on the Surface Pro and then reset the keys.  Upgraded to 8.1 through the Microsoft Store.

    I agree I think it could be to do with the 8.1 firmware update.

    Weird how I'm not having an issue now but you still are.  Unless something hasn't properly reset on yours...
