I just noticed this recently but sometimes I get a Random reboot not even doing anything particular. I also noticed twice that when I attached my Type Cover 2 it reboots. Example I attached it and the SURFACE logo shows and it boots up.
Anyone else experiencing this.?

Very strange indeed. You just reset the keys, didn't you? What does the delete keys option do? Should I try this as well?
Thanks for all your help anyway. I hope, it's reallyna driver issue and that it will be resolved soon. I think, it could be related to the firmware update, which prepares the device for the 8.1 update.
So I just had my first restart after a while. So all those things did not fix the problem =/. Could it be, that my cover is defect and is causing this behaviour?
No I don't think so.
I think it's a driver issue.
I've still not had any problems since I did a reinstall and reset the keys.

I've been having this problem for a while. It seems to be related to the type 2 type cover. I see it particularly when I move the surface when the cover is open. In looking at the event log, a dozen or so failures after getting the type 2 cover, while only 1 before that.
Note, this has occurred on 2 different type 2 covers as the first one was replaced due to the caps lock light no longer working.
I've done lots of twisting, etc. wondering if picking it up by the corner was causing an internal failure, but never been able to reproduce a failure.
SP1, type 2 type cover, 8.1 fully up to date.
I was having the issue with Type Cover v1.
I think it's a driver issue.
@kbc2010, I don't think it the problem with occacional restartes has anyhing to do with the Surface 2 cover.
I have tried to put my Surface pro 2 in "standby" mode with and without the cover and there is no difference to the restart factor. Suddenly I discover that the Surface pro 2 has restarted and after that restart will not go into standy again.
I have also noted that when I turn my Surafce pro 2 completly off, and put it on charging - it is suddenly woken and will not go to sleep agian. This is also tested with and without the Surface 2 touch cover.
It has been noted in other dicsussions also, that this has nothing to do with the touch cover, but has been adressed to the firmware update from december.
Hopefully there will be a fix soon.
