Microsoft and co. are being so helpful in breaking our set up, refusing to address the issue, and actively discouraging anyone who may provide a band-aid fix.
Microsoft does not allow the redistribution of its software/drivers. It is an
intellectual property/legal thing, and (not directed at YOU) there are some bad
folks out there that may alter files and put others at risk.
//
Providing instructions on how to use 7Zip (for example) to extract the files
from the official MSI downloaded from microsoft.com and then instructions on how
to install a specific driver is fine.
//
I'm an unpaid volunteer and do not work for Microsoft. If you want background
on what a Microsoft MVP is, see https://mvp.microsoft.com/en-us/Overview and for
Volunteer Moderators see
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/page/faq#faqWhosWho1 and I personally agree
it is insanely unacceptable to not have a fix after all of this time.
//
If I personally had a SP7, I would write up the instructions with appropriate
"set a system restore point manually and back up any local files" before trying
this unofficial workaround.
