Where are you attaching your pen tab to your Surface Pro 3?

I reaaaaaallly wish they had integrated a slot for the pen, it's a huge letdown... The loop they provide with the keypad is terrible, it isn't even elastic so getting the pen in and out is brutal. We still have no idea where to attach the thing since it falls off the felt backing on the keyboard and its awkward sticking it to the actual surface pro's body, I can see us needing to buy dozens of extra pens because I'm sure tons will be lost during daily routines once we deploy them =/

Sigh... back to testing out the new updates and hoping for the best =P

I'm on the fence for purchasing the Surface Pro 3 and dealing with this lack of integrated Pen Holster or waiting for the Surface Pro 5. I've heard the Four due out Feb/March 2015 will use the same chassis. For everything MS got right on this it's almost perfect. I love the rubber tipped pen, kickstand, SD Slot and forward facing speakers mounted in the bezel. If only the pen had a home in the unit itself....

I like the premium Windows Hardware they're making. I'd love to see a Microsoft designed laptop from this hardware team.

I think Microsoft didn't think to have any spares made.  There are no replacement tips for the pen either and you have to contact Customer Service to get them.

That glob of glue you mentioned is most likely the adhesive that was supposed to be on the tab and it rolled off.  That is pathetic manufacturing and quality control.

Microsoft needs to get manufacturing here in the states and break away from China.  China doesn't like them anyhow and China is stealing the technology from the computers to use in their space program and defense systems.  Besides, China is about to make a modified version of Ubuntu as their only system authorized in the country and other systems will be forbidden in the near future.  That is where most of the hacking and bootlegging is coming from anyway.

Hi - I thought about that - but there seems to be such a large blob of glue on there that it wouldn't sit flat. Tried to pick the glue off, but the colored backing started to come away as well.

It looks like someone has peeled off the waxy strip and stuck it to a glue blob on the paper packing.

I could spend some more time fiddling about with it - but part of me thinks why should I - theres a problem in production that needs sorting out (or don't send pre-used ones out) and charging GBP 4.49 for such a small accessory - it ought to be fit for purpose out of the box.

As it is - its not fit for purpose.

Since I got no-where this morning - maybe Ill just fill in the send surface pro3 return form and just send just the loop back in a box and someone in MS can sort it out.

As an alternative, you might be able to salvage the one you have.

Peel off as much paper as you can and get some double-sided tape.  Attach that tape onto the rectangular area and then attach the tab to anywhere you want on the tablet.  It should hold pretty good but not long lasting (that tape tends to age).  The cost is about $1 and you get a whole roll of it.

Or, find a real good spot on the tablet you want to attach the tab and get some "Gorilla Glue".  One drop will do it and a bulldozer couldn't pull it off!  Just make sure you place it where you want because it could be "permanent".

Theres no waxy paper at all. (which iis what I was expecting)

The loop is stuck firmly direct on to the paper.

After an hour going round in circles on the phone support this morning and having to explain, no there wasn't a pen loop shown on my order because its in the box etc etc , being on hold , going online filling in the form for which the only option seems to be 'do you want to return your sp3' pto rint out the shipping note here .. I gave up for now. .. I just want a new pen loop!

Its only a small thing but I do want a usable one (or 4.49 off the price would do). :-/
