The pen tab is designed to be attached to the keyboard. But when I detach the Pro3 from the keyboard I no longer have access to the pen. On my Surface Pro 1 I attached a loop to the right side which worked except when I put it in the docking station.
What are you doing to store your pen?

Now, that is secure. I also found that Microsoft still has the tabs available for purchase. I bought the newer keyboard and also the new pen/tip kit for my Pro 3 and the new pen fits into the tab perfectly as well. The new pen, by the way, works a lot better than the original and you can still keep the old pen paired to the tablet as well (have both for use).
The tip kit, however, has no way for storage but does have a built in clamp to change the tips with.

This might come in handy for the Surface Pro 4 because it does not include the tab for the pen! Microsoft went stupid and think that the magnetic connection is good enough (good enough if you want to lose the pen).
I found a very cool stylus holder that looks like it should have been included with the surface pro 3. Check it out at www.ThatsSoCoolProducts.com I use my stylus a lot more than I thought I would too. This holder just plugs into the audio port jack so you can easily plug it in and take it out anytime you want. It makes the stylus much more convenient and accessible.
