Surface Pro 4 type cover suddenly not working.

I don't know what happened. I turned my Surface Pro 4 on the other day and the type cover is dead. No lights. No response. No indication that it's working at all.  I rarely take my surface anywhere.

This started on July 9th 2018. My system information is below. I've gone through all of the steps in the "Troubleshoot your Surface Type Cover or keyboard" page. I've tried to manually download and install the latest firmware and drivers from the "Download firmware and drivers for surface" page. I picked SurfacePro4_Win10_16299_1801701_1.msi. My device manager does not show the "Surface Touch Cover Filter Device" under keyboards or anywhere. It only shows the HID keyboard and cannot detect my type cover. The type cover is completely unresponsive. Also, my windows updates are completely up to date. I've provided the links to the troubleshooting pages I used below.

    Thanks P4ulB.

Can some people try out his steps and see if they work for you?

I tried, and it doesn't work for me.

    Windows 10 1809

Screen rotation does not work, surely linked to the problem, the surface disable the keyboard when the device is not in landscape mode, so if the sensors is not working properly would likely cause the keyboard to be disabled.... I'll try to find a way to access the sensors data.

    Hi KLLC888,

My versions mirror yours exactly as per the screenshots and the Windows build is the same.

However, mine has decided to stop working again today!

Worked all day yesterday and I was deliberately rebooting, shutting down regularly to test it and couldn't get it to fail.

The rotation has stopped working as well so there is definitely a connection there somewhere.

Frustrating bit of kit.  Not sure what to try next.

    Hi P4ulB,

Unfortunately, it didn't work for me.

Possible for you to share the current version you are using?

    Example:

    1.) Windows 10 Pro Version 1803 OS Build 17134.441

2.) In Device Manager, your Type Cover and Sensor Version

    3.) Firmware Version
