Update: I followed instructions provided by MS Support and did the re-image recovery of Windows 10. Cover still not functioning (although it lights up upon touching the touch-pad). I did also download and install the latest Surface
Pro 4 firmware and drivers update file available on the official Microsoft website.
Nonetheless, first KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE blue error screen kept on appearing. I did various checks and they indicate a corruption of a critical data structure, the crash is possibly caused by another driver that cannot be identified. Attaching
the screenshot below.
Now another blue screen appears: MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_ETD each time I try to log into Windows. When I disable the Type Cover in the Device section in UEFI settings, the screen is gone.
Hope MS or someone will come up with a solution very soon, cause this is starting to drive me crazy.
