Tap to pay using Google wallet when connected to an approved credit card is no longer working. The issue presented in the last few days prior to the security update. I've used it flawlessly for many months on this phone and now it refuses to work, it simply vibrates when tapped to a terminal. Not sure if it's google or microsoft in this instance but it's unlikely my bank after having spoken to them it seems to be more likely one of the former. Other Duo owners are reporting the same issue. Note that my loyalty cards still function OK with NFC Google wallet. I'm in Australia.

Mmm, yes that might at least get some response - I have found that Dept of Fair Trading [NSW, which is where I live and from where I purchased this device] can be a bit hit and miss with larger corporations!! But certainly the device as sold and purchased no longer provides one of the basic features stated. I might have a go at that myself 👍

I've logged the issue with Google and they responded immediately asking for more information to assist. It sounds like we might have more luck with Google than Microsoft to resolve this issue.

In Australia they would still be on the hook under consumer law. The product is not fit for purpose without the as advertised, NFC capability basically neutered. Not sure in other jurisdictions but here they have to sort this out, I might lodge a complaint with dept of fair trading to get them to at least respond.

I suggest some of you also message @surface and Panos Panay and Satya on Twitter.

Hey thanks :) I might try that, although it does sometimes randomly work, hence why I'm lulled into a false sense of 'oh, Microsoft have actually fixed it, no need to remember to take my card' security. When I remember to take my card, it works, when I do not, of course it does not work. The entire situation is beyond ridiculous, beyond unacceptable. Absolute disgrace.

The only way to get it to function and it's niot 100% effective is to fold the phone right back on itself as in phone mode and put the glass right on the terminal sensor. It works but is lacks sensitivity now it would seem. It's not a fix or a solution but it allows it to work somewhat until a proper fix.
