Surface Duo 2 tap to pay using Google Wallet stopped working

Tap to pay using Google wallet when connected to an approved credit card is no longer working. The issue presented in the last few days prior to the security update. I've used it flawlessly for many months on this phone and now it refuses to work, it simply vibrates when tapped to a terminal. Not sure if it's google or microsoft in this instance but it's unlikely my bank after having spoken to them it seems to be more likely one of the former. Other Duo owners are reporting the same issue. Note that my loyalty cards still function OK with NFC Google wallet. I'm in Australia.

It is an absolute disgrace that Microsoft has in effect removed a feature of this very expensive device. How on earth has this continued for over two weeks now??!!! The ability to use NFC for payment was an advertised feature - it is obviously a basic feature of any device - and it is no longer operable. It is an Android device, Google Wallet is the only way to use this - unless someone knows of a different NFC payment app that I can start using? Because to say that it is irritating is a massive understatement. As I haven't taken a physical card with me anywhere in several years now, I am constantly caught out forgetting that Microsoft has removed the NFC payment capability from my device and I stand there like an idiot at the payment terminal while my phone just vibrates uselessly over it. And then have to leave without whatever I was trying to buy. And trek home/office etc to get my actual card. It is a farcical situation and needs to be fixed. The complete absence of acknowledgement and response from Microsoft is arrogance of the highest order, and if it is not fixed soon I [and I'm sure many others] will need to look to a different brand of phone in order to have a functional, fit for purpose device. My Duo2 is unfortunately not still in warranty [I don't think, just going to double-check!] but anyone whose device is, should lodge a warranty claim over this missing feature of the device that was purchased stating NFC payment capability.

I do this daily since the problem - unfortunately without success 😭

and btw same problem here in Germany.

I think that Microsoft is making a huge mistake when they once again stop developing a great device. The Duo 2 is sensational for me. The last device that I was great and that is no longer available today, was the Microsoft Band 😭😭😭

And to the Duo 2 still - 1750, - € and then get stuck with Android 11 - very bad and disappointing.
