Battery drain issue

After 18 months of trying to get more than 5 hours, and having the battery die on pretty much every journey I make, I sold mine and got the HP Spectre 14. It's easy more powerful (I went for the i7,) same aspect ratio, fine to use as a tablet, Thunderbolt 4 and I get at least 8 hours of proper use. Plus I can replace the battery when it goes.

I'll never go back to surface, even when they advertise 30+ hours, because they simply lie.

Imagine if car manufacturers gave MPG estimates based on the car not moving and the accelerator not being touched!

I just got a Surface Pro 7 and became a part of Surface community.

I have a quick question. How long does your Surface Pro 7 battery last?

I saw several posts and comments on the battery drain issue, but I'd like to know whether the battery problem is only to a specific model (i5 or i7), or just seen in some devices.

Because I feel my Surface Pro barely works for 4~5 hours (Wifi with google docs, or simple work, etc.) not up to 10.5 hours. On the ads, it clearly says 'All-day battery life' & up to 10.5 hours of typical device usage. I tried some recommendations from other posts, but so far no luck here. 

So, I'd like to know whether you have a similar problem or successfully managed the problem.

I have the Surface Pro 6 and I only get 4-5 hours on a full charge doing basic tasks and web browsing. I have owned several from the original to the Model 3 to the Model 6. They all get 4-5 hours.

I feel you. I have bought Apple devices for two decades and wanted to give it a try because  I thought, if MS would build hardware and software together they should be able to do the job right. It is a total disappointment. My daughters MacBook is from 2011 and runs without an issue.

Correct, Surface Pro 7 has up to 10.5 hours of video playback for its battery life. For the battery drain issue, this could just be happening on some but I would like to confirm if you have done these steps already. If not yet, please try these steps to troubleshoot the device:

1: Run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit and check Windows Update

2: Update drivers and firmware

                               Check what is the current OS Build of your Windows version by going to Settings > System > About.

                               Go to Download driver and firmware for Surface, choose Surface Pro 7 then click Download on the next page.

                               Choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and click Next.

                               After downloading, run and install the .msi then Restart.

3: Check Startup Programs

                              Open Task Manager

                              Click the Startup tab on top

                              Please check what are the applications or programs running upon Startup, if you see apps not needed upon startup, try to disable them.

  This is ridiculous, we have been getting wrong information. How long we will be fooled? I have bought surface pro7 1 year back and the battery never lasts more than 3-4 hours on websurfing and normal work. CAN NOT MICROSOFT fix it? No need to fool us. Take some serious step OR you already lost faith in your buyers.

-> Use Throttlestop in the FIVR section to undervolt the CPU try with -100mV  <-

For the undervolt continue lowering the voltage until it is not stable. Same for the iGPU start with -50mV and test until it is not stable.

Make sure your battery is in low power mode when disconnecting it from the AC to ensure the longest battery life.
