Surface 4 Pro screen bulging at lower left edge and separated from the frame

I have a Surface 4 Pro that I purchased in March 2016. Over the last few days, I was seeing a considerable color bleed on lower left edge of the screen. Then I stared noticing that that type cover does not seem to close flat against the screen. On closer inspection, I found that the screen is bulging (curving out) on the lower left side and the screen edge has separated from the frame, exposing a gap, Some of the circuitry inside seems to be pushing out as well from what I can see through the gap, indicating something inside is exerting an outward pressure. I pushed the screen back in and with a little pressure it got flattened. However, after a few minutes use, the screen bulged out again. There is no physical damage to the screen, the bezel or the device in general, no cracks or scratches.

What is causing this and what is a possible solution?

Thanks,

Deepak

Exactly same problem here. Does anyone know what the replacement device would be if pay the £570? Has anyone gone through this route in the UK?

Back to anyone but ms for me too.

I have several surfaces 3 that have dead batteries, and several surface 4, one with this bulging battery.  In every case, slightly out of warranty so ms store (who says this happens often), says buy another, refurbished for $200 over market price. Yeah, sure.

MS, fuhgettaboudit. Im sending these POS to the Consumer product safety commission.

No other co who has this problem - which is a potential fire and health hazard as these batteries can now explode - fails to deal with it (see sony laptop recall).

Whether it's their os, phones, ipods or ipad ms just can't seem to make a competent competitor to apple. No wonder they have to close their stores.

Good luck getting MS to resolve this.

I contacted MS to report his issue and was told my device was out of warranty and therefore they could not replace it for free, I would have to pay $599 for a replacement.

This bulging screen is clearly a device failure and a known issue as they have a straightforward playbook for how to handle these issues - yet they never contacted their users to issue a recall.  They wait and play their cards hoping they won't have to honor the warranty for folks like me whose device takes an extra few months to fail.

When I asked Customer Support why I was not contacted and told about the risk (the device was registered upon purchase) I was told that they relied on 'articles and tech magazines to hopefully get the word out' and had 'no way of contacting the device owners'. Any consumer knows that's just bad business and mistruth. Ability to communicate with owners is the VERY REASON you register a purchase in the first place.

Forget your $599 Microsoft.  I'm going back to Apple.

Even if you are lucky to get a replacement, be sure the replacement is only a show.

Even those replacements are faulty and you would be in trouble all of a sudden when the device starts acting funny, either a flash mark observed on screen, over heating of the device, hot charger cable point, And even the hard disk trouble.

Your surface would suddenly start getting in bios screen and would never start.
