The fans are working for me. Haven’t had the issue crop up for 9 days with the fans on the dock and one on the connector to the Surface. While a work-around for sure, at least its working.
Surface Pro 6 Runs Slower in Dock
My Surface Pro 6 runs noticeably slower when it is connected to the dock. I have a dock at both home and work and see the same reduced performance in both places. This is not a new issue (unlikely related to a recent Win or other software update). Both docks were originally purchased for use with my previous Surface Pro 4 device.
Does anyone else notice such a pattern?
Any thoughts on what might be causing this and how to fix it?
- Surface Pro 6, i7, 16gb
- Win 10 10.0.17763 Build 17763
- >300GB of 500GB hard drive are free
I don't see any obvious issues when looking at Task Manager. CPU, memory and internet are all lightly utilized.
Thanks much for any thoughts.

2019-09-07T00:13:54+00:00 Hmm.
So I'm using a brand new MS SP6 with a MS Surface Dock. Both MS products that are marketed to work together.
Since they don't, can I return them both for a full refund? (I'm 100% positive my credit card company would back me up on this if Microsoft did not accept the return.) I do have all docs in OneDrive (you're welcome, Microsoft), so should be pretty easy to restore to the new machine...
Otherwise, would be preferable to have a fix (at time=now) to save the hassle of refund, re-purchase, re-ship, re-setup.

2019-09-06T23:30:47+00:00 I have the same issue. Didn't affect my prior SP4, but does affect my current SP6.
Really slow when on docking station, CPU to 0.4 as previously described.
I notice that it occurs every time if I boot computer or wake from sleep with dock connected. I get a few minutes of lag-free use on dock if I connect the dock after the PC has already booted or awoken.
Is there any fix for this issue as yet?
Do fans on the dock work as mentioned above?
Any else?
TIA,
Ari
