Surface pro 4 display adapter error, "Display adapter igfx stopped responding and has recovered", event id 4101. Seems to be only when running Edge.
What date is on the current driver??

We released an update on 2/17/2016 that addresses this issue.
We recommend that you install this update to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings> Update & security> Windows Update.
To confirm the updates are installed, check Settings> Update & security> Windows Update> Advanced options> View your update history.

I suspect devices racing to awaken are interfering with each other. Leaving WiFi on during sleep (settings > system>power & sleep), which I set yesterday, seems to have fixed the black screen on "awakening" problem I have been having on my surface pro 4. (Of course sleep, under the balanced power scheme, consumed up to 23% of battery capacity this way).
WiFi set off during sleep used to reconnect after sign-in and startup. Updates installed in January changed this so that it was on by that time.
Since I've still gotten the MTConfig errors sometimes and also distributed COM errors and warnings on Kernel-PnP: WUDFRd failing to load for device ... and ACPI: EC returned data when none was requested, that were also being reported in the 'System' event log, inelegance remains. However, my screen isn't black and I don't have to force shutdown and reboot to wake the Surface.

Try a two button reset
Step 1: Swipe in from the right and tap or click Settings, tap or click Power, and then tap or click Shut down to shut down Surface. If you can’t shut down Surface normally, press and hold the power button on your Surface for 30 seconds.
Step 2: After Surface turns off, press and hold volume-up button and the power button on your Surface at the same time for at least 15 seconds, and then release both.
The screen may flash the Surface logo, but continue holding the buttons down for at least 15 seconds.
Step 3: After you release the buttons, wait 10 seconds.
Step 4: Press and release the power button again to turn your Surface back on.
if this does not work, you will need to exchange it.
Not to mention:
- Huge hotspots on the screen from components pushing on it from behind.
- On/Off button sometimes requires 2 or 3 tries to get it to respond.
- Surface Dock not working AT ALL with many common monitors like my Dell 3007's and 2007's. I believe it's a problem with the Dock sending output to DVI ports. Truly unbelievable that it wasn't tested ( either that or the rather monstrous limitation isn't disclosed by the Marketing Dept.).
- Touchpad is somewhat laggy, though it has improved since October.
- Left side of touchpad much more sensitive to tap and pinch than Right side of touchpad
- Hard corners uncomfortable in use as a tablet
- (Here's a doozy I just discovered) - Edit a photo in a Nokia 930 (or probably any WIndows 8.1 phone) using the native "Crop, rotate, auto-fix". Now try moving it to the SP4 through the Surface Dock, "Access is Denied". (It is not denied if the photo is unedited OR moving an edited photo directly through USB to the Surface). It is only Access Denied when coming through the Dock. It gets worse - if the photo already exists in the folder on the SP4 that you're moving to, and you choose Copy and Replace
- There will be more obviously, as we continue to use these things.
MS is run by Idiots that is why.
The surface team should all be fired for releasing not one but TWO premium devices with so many issues it is laughable.
What if Panay stood up on the stage and told the truth:
- Your display driver will crash on you while scrolling web pages.
- Your Surface Pro will get 4 hours of battery use.
- Your Surface Pro will completely freeze on you on occasion.
- Your Surface Pro will not wake from sleep.
- Your Surface Pro will take forever to boot when the keyboard is flipped back.
- Your Surface Pro will either have fast SSD write speeds or NOT.
- Your Surface Pro will have light bleed on the display.
- Your Surface Pro wifi will be slower than most EVERY manufacturer.
- Your Surface Pro wifi will sometimes not work either requiring a reboot or disabling / re-enabling.
- Windows Hello will sometimes take longer than typing a pin or a passcode.
- Your Surface Pro fans will kick on full blast for no apparent reason while you are in a meeting.
- And on and on.
Other than that it is great!.
A good list and all things that have been reported on here! Let's see if the MS representative can come on and give us an update on each of these. PLEASE!
