Surface Book 2 GPU Driver disappears randomly after May 2019 update

Hi, just recently installed the Windows 10 May update on my Surface Book 2. Now the GPU disappears randomly while in use. The only solution is to reboot the Surface Book 2, or go into the device manager and initiate a scan for the GPU to come back again. It has Nvidia Gforce GTX 1050 version 23.21.13.9140

Are there any plans for Microsoft to release an updated driver to fix this bug?

There are some updates that were pushed to PRODUCTION today https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4055398/surface-book-2-update-history You do NOT need to join Insiders to get these.

October 2019 updates

The following updates are available for all Surface Book 2 devices running Windows 10 April 2018 Update, version 1803 or greater:

    I can't imagine that Microsoft will abandon the Surface Book product (though their current response has not been...stellar).  What is likely is that the Surface team is currently tied up getting ready for their next big announcement in October and MS is panicking about all of the other issues with 1903.  The dGPU problem very likely is deeply ingrained within some change they made in the Windows architecture and probably goes beyond a simple driver fix.

    I was lucky enough to roll back to 1803, I would be most unhappy right now if I hadn't since my SB2 is my work machine and not using the dGPU isn't really an option for me.

    One thing to try is to do a factory reset (after backing up, of course) and seeing what version of Windows it reverts back to.  If it's pre-1903, the update block should prevent Windows from downloading it.  Granted it's a huge bummer to have to take the time to re-install everything, but at least you'd be able to use the machine.

    well at the time I searched for alternatives, given the price of the SB2, and I could not find one that suited my needs.

    I need a relatively powerful laptop because I work with Adobe software AND I need the touchscreen + pen. The SB2 just sounded perfect.

    I used to work with a MBP wich is now unusable so i decided to switch to Windows.  And I really need a touchscreen now but the MBP + IpadPro combo is definitely not an option.

    You reckon Microsoft is never going to solve this ????

     

    There are major issues that are unsolved since last October (almost a year). Dont hold your breath.
