Surface Book 2 GPU Driver disappears randomly after May 2019 update

Hi, just recently installed the Windows 10 May update on my Surface Book 2. Now the GPU disappears randomly while in use. The only solution is to reboot the Surface Book 2, or go into the device manager and initiate a scan for the GPU to come back again. It has Nvidia Gforce GTX 1050 version 23.21.13.9140

Are there any plans for Microsoft to release an updated driver to fix this bug?

Can we kindly have an ETA for the fix or at least more details on the status of the patch from an official Microsoft answer? We bought this device mainly for work and the Nvidia GTX 1060 GPU is the main feature that justify the premium price of this machine (about 4K€). It's more than 4 month that on Windows 1903 any application that use the dGPU causes random BSOD, with a significant loss of time, work, money and reliability.

This is a very severe issue, it's a software issue caused by a Windows major update delivered to all users on the stable channel without an adeguate testing on the main Microsoft laptop, it affects all the units sold, with installed the latest certified drivers and updates that are delivered via Windows Update, and it's still not fixed after months...

It's disappointing also that the page with Surface Book 2 known issues still minimize the problem by not admitting the severity of the bug, no mentions to the frequent BSOD that happen when an application use the dGPU on all Surface Book 2 device with dGPU, reported by many users on different channels that are spending many of their working hours to debug and test a workaround on their own

    Thanks

The only solution I have is to revert to the default company image of my machine and disable Windows Update, which itself is a massive security risk and I am very, very reluctant to do. This is costing me productivity and money. Microsoft bricked my GPU and are being slow to fix it.

You don't need to block Windows Update. If you can revert back to v1809 under Settings>Windows Update & Security>Recovery, it will stay there. Since you said it's too late, what OS build is your company image on? If it's v1903, I'm pretty impressed they're that fast at updating it. Not many companies move as fast as mine.

There is currently a block on Surface Book 2s updating to v1903 via Windows Update, so any new install of v1903 has been forced by the user.

Per a Microsoft employee that works on bugs, a new GPU driver is in the works (not even available for Beta testing yet). Unknown what exactly it will solve since my inquiry was related to "black screens" that have been going on for almost ONE YEAR but I am guessing the throttling issues that hit the news outlets/media lit a fire under their butts. I asked for an update to hear back that the team is on vacation. Pretty ridiculous that I first contacted Microsoft about GPU issues almost ONE YEAR ago and then contacted them again 4-5 months ago when the throttling issue surfaced. Microsoft didnt care at all and then once the throttling issue hit the news/media they are finally working on a new GPU driver but it does not seem to be a priority for them. Just one big eff you from Microsoft to its customers.
