Surface Book 2 GPU Driver disappears randomly after May 2019 update

Hi, just recently installed the Windows 10 May update on my Surface Book 2. Now the GPU disappears randomly while in use. The only solution is to reboot the Surface Book 2, or go into the device manager and initiate a scan for the GPU to come back again. It has Nvidia Gforce GTX 1050 version 23.21.13.9140

Are there any plans for Microsoft to release an updated driver to fix this bug?

Thank you for reporting the issue. A fix is available through Windows Update.

Thanks a lot AceCoolie! I already installed KB4505903 and I will try out the new Nvidia driver tonight to see whether the issue is resolved for me as well. I'll post my observations.

It's possible we just received a silent fix for this.  Previously, I had the issue and could reproduce it 100% on demand by running Photoshop, Lightroom, etc. all at the same time.  I made the change to the nVidia control panel to prefer max performance and my Surface Book 2 has been stable (although battery life went down).

This morning, I got the update that nVidia released the 431.70 Studio driver.  I installed that and also checked windows update where I received KB4505903.  With those two changes, I reverted the control panel back to adaptive and have started up all of my most graphic intensive apps and have been unable to crash the system.

Its interesting, however, that none of the release notes for either change mention this issue.

Another shameful display of lack of quality control on Microsoft's behalf.

You have been bashed endlessly by the problem brought up by your updates, and this time it is especially annoying because it affect Microsoft devices!!!

Your 1903 update has disabled the ability to use the Nvidia GPU that we paid extra money for, that we use for video editing and other demanding tasks. This device is for most of us our daily work tool, and you are not doing anything to fix it. I expected to have the issue handled in the July cumulative update but nothing was done. THIS IS SHAMEFUL AND UNACCEPTABLE from any point of view. Microsoft, you need to stop ignoring your customers, and burying your head under the ground. At this point, you should be subject to a class action based on the damages you are causing to all your users by the imperil and reckless way in which you release your software updates and in which you deal with the introduced bugs. Microsoft, you are horrible, and this is the last time I buy hardware from you...paid premium price to get under grade services its really not my thing...
