Surface Book 2 GPU Driver disappears randomly after May 2019 update

Hi, just recently installed the Windows 10 May update on my Surface Book 2. Now the GPU disappears randomly while in use. The only solution is to reboot the Surface Book 2, or go into the device manager and initiate a scan for the GPU to come back again. It has Nvidia Gforce GTX 1050 version 23.21.13.9140

Are there any plans for Microsoft to release an updated driver to fix this bug?

Instead of switching to Apple, I'd instead stick to a non-MS/Apple brand, like Aorus, Lenovo, PCSpecialist or Razer (in that order) who use OEM graphics cards that won't be bricked by the OS.

I've got a desktop and laptop which remain unaffected by any updates in terms of performance/usability/drivers.

You've had it significantly worse than most of us Mysteryyy.

    I am gutted for you!

Hey you are right and that is exactly the official statement I received from MS representatives - roll back to at least 1809 but here is my problem with that.

As a Surface customer we should be able to leverage and enjoy the latest and greatest that comes from MS. The differences between 1903 and 1809 are not huge but still enough to make me want to stick to 1903. There are many small improvements which I enjoy and want to have so here is the question - what are you willing to sacrifice 1. Improvements of the 1903? 2. Your nVidia gpu?

At the end of the day I like many other have paid premium so we can have these devices built by the same company that makes to OS so my assumption is that if something would run smooth and flawless it should be on these devices. The way I see it MS should refund or at least provide some compensation to Surface owners for the inconvenience of choosing between the latest OS or the hardware they paid for.

Providing workarounds and half solutions is something especially when considering the time that passed since discovering the issues. This just tells a story of a company obsessed with making money at the expense of their users by providing half baked, bug ridden products. What is the point of going for all MS if they cant make these two work together and we are the ones suffering.

Like I said before - its pointless to do anything, we have already paid so they dont care about us. They are 2 days from new product launch so guess what they care about now - the new suckers they are hoping to get....

They didn't have this issue with the Surface Book 1, or as prevalent as when they released 19xx.

As such, it's not your fault; the hardware was "okay".

As for is Microsoft as bad as Apple, well, in this case, I would say they are worse. Microsoft has outright ignored us and pushed this incident under the rug.

I've tweeted @Windows, @Microsoft and @Panos_Panay and they have ignored me. It's been SIX months and nothing. All I can suggest is to keep mass tweeting at them as often as you can.

Someone earlier said that they spoke to a technician who said there would be a fix in a few weeks, but it's been a month since they posted most likely. As of 11:46 am GMT there are still no updates.

Microsoft screwed over high-end users in one fell swoop and have told us we don't matter.

The original Surface Book was riddled with issues. In fact, a close friend and Microsoft employee who had it told me NOT to get it as he/she had a horrible experience using the device. Despite them submitting bug reports and trying to get attention so it would get fixed it remained useless. This person vowed never to be an Apple/Mac person and what do you know, the Surface Book experience turned them to the dark side! Its us consumers who are fools to keep buying Microsoft products.
