    I downloaded the most recent version of Word 2501 yesterday and once it was finished, I rebooted and there was still no option for Copilot. However, I opened Word today, and went to options to check for something else, and Copilot had "magically" appeared, so I unchecked it. It is finally gone.

    Yes, it works fine. Users must just remember also to click OK after unchecking the copilot button.

    I have unchecked the copilot in word but the hateful irritating icon still keeps catching my eye. why is it not disabled or is copilot in fact still active?

    Update to version 2501 and disable it on the new Copilot tab in Options:

    CoPilot is not part of o365 retail versions
