Onedrive search function not working (online version)

Onedrive online App.

When opening my onedrive via webpage, the search function at the top is not working as before. Before I could start typing and the list of hits would diminish until I was left with whatever matched my search query.

There seems to be something wrong with my Onedrive folder, as the folder does not seem to be indexed any longer on the server side.

This also stops my Graph API searchfunction to work.

I can use: https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/me/drive/root/children  to see the content of the onedrive.

But running : https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/me/drive/root/search(q='.xlsx') returns nothing.

From what I have been able to dig up, this is due to onedrive not indexing any of the files serverside.

Is there any solution to this? Is there a hard reset to return my onedrive to it's default state? Or am I forced to find other solutions?

Hello ronron_525,

Welcome to the Microsoft community.

What I will explain to you is that the problem is not on your OneDrive folder, but on the OneDrive search service.

The problem you described that you can't search for the location of files in OneDrive (OneDrive search bar not working) is a hot issue that has recently emerged. We've received feedback from users around the world who have encountered this issue. This issue is still being investigated. It exists in OneDrive Web and OneDrive Mobile for certain users. The development team says that this is a temporary issue and will be resolved as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience.

The Microsoft community is just a community for technical discussions, so we don't engage in development-related content, but I've found the last channel for users to submit reports and feedback on this issue that was opened by the OneDrive team.

You can take a screenshot of the issue you're encountering and provide feedback about the issue using the OneDrive link (live.com))

So that they can fully understand the full picture of the problem and summarize the various symptoms of the problem they encounter to provide a more comprehensive solution.

▲ We will continue to monitor the issue in this reply thread and share the latest progress of the issue as soon as possible.

Best regards

Ian - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist

Same for me. I just opened a ticked and it was closed immediately stating that this is a known issue and engineers are working on it. For months now with not the slightest results? What engineers do you employ, MSFT? This is so frustrating.

100% agree. The Microsoft 365 platform is a nightmare with problems everywhere. Microsoft is ripe for competition.

I have tried every possible combination of solution that the internet has thrown at me but the problem remains same. All the microsoft products are broken. Teams is a complicated mess. Outlook search is complete ****. Word/Excel breaks down for no reason. Thinking of switching to Google Workspace.

I have had the same issue for months.

Someone in your IT team needs to take their finger out from where it doesnt need to be and get to work.
